Planning and Asset identification

In 2003/2004 the NRMC and the Shire of Mt Marshall have under taken a NRM planning process. The result has been a two stage Environmental Protection Plan and four asset identification documents, including, water, biodiversity, infrastructure and land resources.

Catchment groups

The NRMC continues to promote the operation of catchment groups throughout the Shire area. It is hoped that groups will operate within each catchment. The catchments identified within the Shire include, Mollerin, Tampu, Lake McDermott, Beacon River, Askew, Wialki and Wallambin.

Environmental resource centre

An environmental resource centre for the Mt Marshall area has been established in the front of the Road Boards Hall, Monger Street Bencubbin. This office houses the Landcare Technical Officer, a Woodland Watch Project Officer and a NEWROC Community Support Officer.

Farm mapping

The Shire of Mt Marshall has purchased a high quality mapping program. This program can be used to produce farm maps, including 2m contours, remnant vegetation and waterways.

Farm planning

The Landcare Technical Officer offers Mt Marshall residents on ground farm planning. Please contact the Landcare Technical Officer for more information.

Site assessments

Site assessments are also available for your land. An assessment includes farm maps, soil descriptions, geology maps, climate information, identification of environmental problems and suggested management techniques.

Surveying and Engineering Design

The Shire of Mt Marshall offers Mt Marshall residents engineering earthworks design services and also assistance with surveying. Including grade banks, contour lines, dams and Roaded Catchments and many more.

Funding Application Preparation

The Shire of Mt Marshall will provide assistance with the preparation and submission of NRM funding applications.

Salinity Management Options

The Salinity Management Options document produced by the Shire of Mt Marshall provides extensive technical information on the options available for salinity management. This document includes useful contacts and costings. This document is available from the Shire office.

Project Monitoring Handbooks

The Shire of Mt Marshall has produced four project-monitoring handbooks for projects undertaken within the Shire. These handbooks include: vegetation, salt land pastures, engineering earthworks and engineering pumping. These handbooks are available from the Shire office.
